Temprana Therapy - An Introduction

Temprana Therapy was developed over twenty-six years by world renowned reflextherapist Lone Sorensen primarily to aid children with brain disorders. Brain-medulla damage, distorted vision, hearing problems, and learning disorders as well as birth-related complications, head traumas, or chronic disease are possible causes of childhood difficulties that Temprana Therapy addresses. These unique methods, techniques, and concepts were approved by the Filadelfia Kurhuset State Rehabilitation Centre of Denmark, which works with patients having unique types of brain damage.

Incorporated into Temprana Therapy are Oriental Medicine, knowledge and experience of the South American Indians, and modern medicine. Facial Reflexology, Foot Reflexology, Hand Reflexology, Muscular Stimulation, Brain Gym, and Music Therapy are all called upon to create a unique therapy program for each child. While the sooner therapy can begin after brain impairment the better, the goal of Temprana Therapy is to get the child's systems to balance so improvement is possible. The diverse modalities used, therefore, are to ensure that every structure in the body gets activated.

Brain impairment, however, may not become obvious until symptoms, such as, falling behind in school and/or behavioral, socialization, or emotional problems, surface. Common labels for such symptoms are Pervasive Development Disorders (PPD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Autism Spectrum Disorders. Early recognition of developmental delays and initiating timely intervention may significantly lessen the symptoms of such disorders.

Normal neurological development occurs in sequential steps, with each successive step building on the previous. When progress to the next step cannot be achieved, a developmental delay becomes obvious. Within a child's first two to twelve months, ten primitive reflexes should be dominated by more complex movements. Should a primitive step linger, personalized therapies can then be used to retrain the missed step so developmental progress can resume.

Temprana Therapy has produced positive results for auditory problems, impaired mobility, dyslexia, poor concentration, hyperactivity, Down and other syndromes, speech problems, inability to chew and swallow, epilepsy, and autism. Children with epilepsy have experienced improvement not thought possible with traditional approaches - some had 100% success and many are now medication-free and symptom-free. Some Temprana-treated children with autism are not seen as such anymore and live normal lives.

Stimulating acupuncture points, nerve endings, muscles, and circulation with Temprana Therapy re-establishes the biochemical flow through the Central Nervous System, the Hormonal System, and the energy meridians that are critical to normal functioning and optimal health. Unique in its approach, the goal is to activate and maximize the potential of all systems to encourage normal functioning for children with brain impairments. Temprana Therapy offers hope to children and their parents for bringing about much desired improvement and relief.
